A diploma in Meat Technology is a 1-year program. During Diploma in Meat Technology, the students will study various aspects like product development, development of functional meat, an extension of shelf life, development of milk products etc.
The course covers various topics, like fresh meat technology, meat products technology, meat by-products technology, microbiology and quality control, packaging and sensory evaluation of livestock products, milk, and milk products technology, etc.
It is intended to develop competencies in good slaughter practices, handling of meat on scientific lines, production of quality meat and meat products, and testing and quality control of meat and meat products. The course durations both minimum and maximum are one and four years respectively. It may also be provided by some institutes on a correspondence basis.

Eligibility Criteria for Diploma in Meat Technology
1. The candidate should have passed the 12th standard in any stream from a recognized board or institute.
2. A minimum aggregate score of 50% (Relaxation of 5% i.e. 45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) at the 10+2 level.
3. Candidates awaiting their 10+2 examination results are also eligible to apply to any institution, provided they clear the eligibility criteria by the time of document verification.
4. Apart from the above all those youth of the 17-25 age group who have opted for and have been sanctioned for self-help allowance, have to compulsorily complete this training.

1. Basic education of 10+2 from a recognised institution with any stream with 45-50% marks.
2. Some private colleges and deemed universities perform their counselling process by conducting their university-level entrance exams.
3. Some universities also conduct personal interviews before granting admission to the students.
